Faced with this dilema myself at the minute and I'm tempted to leave it for a while or just drive on as long as possible because I'm lazy. Just wondered what others do, and if anyone has any horror stories from not taking notice of the EML.

Mine came on whilst I was 60 miles from my destination and 370 miles from home at 2am

I carried on in the hope it was just an electrical glitch. Fortunately, the light went off the next day. Never been so worried in all my life!

If my engine light comes on i use the scanguage to tell me whT the code is, have a quick look on my phone to see what it is, (usually something sensor related) clear the code and see how long it takes to come back on.

Most of the time tho it cones on with a blank code so it means nothing.

Used to come on occasionally on my B 12v, ignored it, never caused any problems.

Unless I can smell smoke I'll casually look it up on the forums when I have time... was good when I worked for Renault and could just borrow Clip!

Mines has been on for about a week now. Get it put out and it will come back on a cpl of weeks later. Same codes, lambda sensors, 2.6 is notorious for it as it has 4 and they are too close together.

It's normally only the lambda sensors that bring the light on anyway, mine was on for months

Read the fault code and then make a decision on what I do next pending the outcome of the scan and the reasons for my journey in the first place.

Mines been on for almost a year. Lambda sensor. I replaced sensor. Still on. Won't clear.

Usually if it comes on I'll get it scanned as soon as I can, if it drives fine then there's no rush.

As it turns out one of my mates has a diagnostics machine that will read the code, so will get it checked out this week if I see him.

The mate just plugged it into his wee computer thing, which he bought off Amazon for £12! It brought up 1 fault, which was something to do with uneven fuelling in the V6, but this could be due to the LPG or anything. Cars running 100% so cleared the code and will drive away!
