What you do is go into the BIOS, and make the CD-ROM drive the bootable drive, save exit and reboot with the XP CD in the drive, and the install program should run automatically, you don't even need to format the drive in DOS beforehand as the setup program can do this for you.

Just let the install program run, and it'll ask you whether you want to format it as FAT16, FAT32, or NTFS (which is the default option).

What's the point in formatting the drive in DOS if you can do this with the XP setup program anyway?

I just looked on Microsoft's web site and I couldn't see anything about a Windows 2003? Although I did order a free XP SP1 CD from there, surprised they don't charge people for CD-ROM updates...

The setup program does a full format, if you do a quick format in DOS you save a shedload of time depending on the size of your drive.
