The Media are like a dog with a bone at the moment.. This is in-fact quite a "Below average" year for commercial aviation accidents.

A plane vanished with nearly 300 people and no one knows what happened to it, and an airplane full of people going on holiday shot down by a missile that no one will admit to.

Would love to know what an "average year" contains.

Apparently an average year of plane disasters is around 300 fatalities. That average has been done in the last week.
