On my old corsa's I used hammerite to paint the rear arches and a few bits underneath the car, but as I will be keeping my nova for a long time, I just wanted to get advice on what the best stuff to use painting wheel arches, inner wings etc...
I was just gonna buy some underseal or black hammerite, clean up the areas, then paint..
Obviously the aim is to prevent rust, any advice would be great!
Also on a different subject, does my car need a cat to pass mot? It's a J reg (1992) the guy I bought it off said it doesn't, but I wanna make sure before I de-cat it.

The body shop that's got my T4 is coating the arches and the sills with some sealant he showed me, it's not cheap at £30 a bag and my vans using 3 bags of it but when I saw a job he'd done with it I was amazed how tough it was. It's pretty much everything resistant. I haven't a clue what it's called though.

Should be ok with regards to the Cat. Almost certain it's cars built from 1993 onward that have to have one.

I'd take off all the old stuff if you can mate so you can get it back to bare metal, treat any rust spots, protect it with Zinc based primer, stone chip it then paint
Bilt hamber is your best bet for stuff like this Heres some pics from when I did mine
Treated with Doex-C before being coated with electrox
Seams resealed
Stone Chipped

I hope this is the case! Anyone know for sure? I did google it before anyone says, but I couldn't find anything up to date that was clear.

There is a cross over date for the car durning 91/92 I think can't remember the exact date! If your car left the factory with a cat then it needs one for the mot. You can look at the mot testing guide online

I was under the impression it was early 1992 but I can't remember where I saw it. If I find it i'll send it across.

Nice job there.
Must do mine properly. It's the stripping of old rubbery coating I struggle with.
