no. well they shouldn't be aloud anyway, especially the cunts who cycle in the middle of the road to prevent you getting past with a go-pro attached to their helmet so they can capture being beaten up and put it on youtube. They're normally vegetarians as well.

Only time I get agrovated by cyclists is when they ride down the formby bypass, there's a pavement on one side that runs the whole length of the bypass. And yet they ride on the bypass and complain when you pass them at 60...

sorry I'm a bit late to the argument but as a cyclist yes, if you can walk there in that direction you can ride there in that direction. Thread closed.

Walking implies using a footpath
Cyclists aren't allowed to use a footpath. A bicycle is a vehicle.

No idea if there's any specific laws but if it's signposted one-way then you'd commit an offence by failing to comply with the signage 
Tbf, a 30 second Google would probably tell you everything
Edit - 5 second Google, first link - http://ukcyclerules.com/2011/08/09/cycling-one-way-streets/ - nothing directly illegal but you'd be committing other offences which can result in fines.

I live on a one way street and do it all the time. I'm not going round the block to get to my front door, people in cars and vans seem to do it all the time too

no not unless you get off and push down the path.
Although there is one road near me in basidon which is one way except cylists and buses. But thats only the entrance bit as its two ways after that. Its only like that to stop every man and his dog using it as a cut through from town. But it has a sign specifically mentioning it

Whats the cycle paths like? some paths that share part of the road are full of shit and do not get cleaned properly, so tend to cycle in the road to keep punctures/etc at bay

I think that is fine, to an extent.
I don't think laws for cars etc should be as stringent as to a cyclist. Riding a bike down a one way street (sensibly) is no worse than walking down it, same as riding through say a Piazza.

As a cyclist.
Most cyclists are wankers who couldn't give a fuck what the traffic laws are. Especially ones who dress in Lycra/high viss and hipster twats who ride single speed bikes in tight jeans and boat shoes.
Mountain bikers are ok though.
However I would ride down a one way street because I can.
