There is an error with the ECU on the pug and has generally become unreliable.

Looking to do a deal on a 1.6 TDCI Ford Focus Zetec later today. Managed to blag myself 3 years unlimited mileage warranty and the car is on a 62.

Thoughts on these cars?

Good to drive, handle well for a hatchback and return mega mpg. Father in law has a 1.6tdci tit X with bluefin and its nippy enough.

He is actually selling his as needs a bigger boot so after an A4 avant.

There is a titanium available but it done another 25k. Way i see that is, that's an extra years mileage to myself.

This Zetec has the electric rear windows and rear parking sensors.

I do a shit load of miles and just need something a bit more reliable that is good on juice.
Ford garage is local and i've blagged the extra warranty.

The 1.6 tdci is no sports car but good enough for what it will be used for.

Blagged the extra warrenty ever the top car buyer Eh.

There's a titanium x with 25k more miles yet you'd rather pick a zetec even though you've "blagged" 3 year unltd mile warrenty. Yeah ok.

Do you really want an engine that has been touched by me?

Good cars. We had a 62 plate one in black. Inside is a nice place to be with the blue lit dash and the seats are comfortable.

Well built also. Held up well after an evoque pulled out infront of me.

Needs a bigger boot? The focus boot is huge. Is he an undertaker?

What's the spec difference between the two? Not sure I'd worry about mileage, if they're the same age it won't be hard miles on the higher one.

Not even sure reliability should be an issue on either. What's the cam belt interval and when are you going to reach it? Depending on the spec difference I wouldn't rule it out.

Titanium has fancy gadgets inside, usually cruise control, sat nav and climate control.

See if you're doing the miles, that's all going to be useful. Climate less so but the other two would be a deffo for me.

Definitely.

Mind you, there's 8k on our new fiesta and the cloth on the side bolster of the drivers seat has gone a bit saggy already, so imagine a 2 year old focus with a lot more mileage on.

Could just be a fault with the material as it hadn't happened on the others.

Personally I'd go for the titanium. I can guarantee you will get the zetec and think i should have gone for the other.

The Zetec has had a lot of the Titanium extras added. Was an ex mobility car. Has 14k on the clock.

The pug has Cruise Control which I very rare use due to constantly having to adjust due to traffic. This Zetec has Climate. Sat Nav would have been nice.

Deal is done, I'm collecting next Saturday.

I've been looking at things I can tow with but just would not be practical at the moment. £20 a year Road Tax makes me happy!

The one within my budget was an ex company car on the options plan. I just know how I treated my company cars and how I wouldn't want to sell one on to someone I knew.

How does that options work out. Sales guy was telling me they would call after 12 months to get you into a newer car for similar money. I never trust a sales person without everything written down.

Works out well for us. I get cheap employee deals and the missus can trade her car in for a new one every 9 months if she wants. You can sell it privately after 12 months also.

Ideal if you wanted to lease a car as the payments are more favourable (low monthly payment, high balloon payment). Obviously you never pay the balloon payment unless you really wanted to keep the car once the agreement finishes.

So, you do a lot of miles and don't want cruise control? I'm out of this thread.

The guys at Ford on the linkway advised anything you see on there forecourt can be taken on the options plan.

He said with traffic he doesn't get an opportunity to engage it. I drive 60 miles on the motorway a day and have cruise control. I don't use it as my journeys are in rush hour and it's stop/start. If I travelled at 3 a.m. I'd use it.

Knowing what Andrew does and the antisocial hours it can entail, I would want cruise control. I understand there are places that you can't use it but I live by the busiest sections of the M4/M25 and still manage it in rush hour. All those bloody 50 speed camera areas as well.

1.6 vti - apparently a BMW engine.

The engine ran great, the rest of the car kept falling apart.
