Has anyone done this in practice? Displayport to DVI adapter, with a DVI-VGA adpater on the end, connected. I know it's stupid, don't ask. Just want to know if it should work or not?

Assuming your display port has an Analogue output it should be fine.

I think that too but I need to know if it works in practice.
I'm trying to scramble enough adapters together to test it here but haven't found them all yet.

In theory DisplayPort can output a VGA signal but from what i know it's hardware dependant, so you're better off getting an active DP -> VGA converter.

I'm sure you can do Displayport to VGA - I know for a fact you can do miniDP to VGA

This didn't work btw,
Direct displayport - vga worked but not via the dvi-vga adapter.
There's probably a combination that would work but definitely not with the hardware in use on this occasion.

This does actually work, came across it today when replacing some PCs. Displayport > VGA
