I'm basically looking to increase straight line grip...ideally i'd get a Quaife diff but at present my funds won't allow that! So I want to increase front tyre width...

..so can I get away with a 225/50 R16 on Speedline Alessio 2 Rims? I think they're 6.5J

or would this cause rubbing? It's on a Corsa C.

I'm planning on going for Toyo R1R's...but i've noticed that there are limited tyre choices when it comes to 16" wheels. Must be an un-popular wheel size.

If you want more grip on the front just bite the bullet and get semi slicks..

Or

Lower pressures in front tyres
More weight over the front wheels

But nothing will give you results like propper tyres.

toyo are the lower end of mid range however, id not pick a nankang ever.

chris_uk is correct, in my opinon, from experiences of driving decent powered fwd cars.

Ive not tried the nankangs personally, i was refering to either a r888 (or r888r when they are released), a048 or avon zzr.

I assume this is just a street car with a tonne of power through the front wheels?

You could look at your geometry aswell, having minimal negative camber will help get the maximum amount of tyre on the floor, although it would hinder cornerin ability but that said.. A high powered fwd corsa doesnt have much in the way of handling anyway so im unsure how much your gunna notice..

He said a diff is out of his budget, which is about 800+ a set of r888's would be had for under 600.

And he doesnt specify a budget so if he wanted a better answer he should of given us more to go on.
