For any of you that have received a NIP in the post how long does it typically take to arrive ?
I know they have the 14 day rule but generally does it take 3-4 days or am i being optimistic ?
Basically i might of been clocked on sat leaving a 30 zone at around 40, gutted to be honest but its my own fault.

Not sure the 14 day rule is a real thing tbh??
I got caught by a mobile van mid June and didn't receive my NIP until 11th July (remember it as it was a nice bit of post on my birthday :lol

This was not a fixed camera it was a van in a lay-by so might come quicker i guess. fingers crossed, the guy was not operating the camera at the time. The NIP has to be served within 14 days otherwise its invalid.

This is where the confusion stems
quote: The 14 day rule relates only to the period of time in which the Police/Process Unit must serve the original Notice. The Police do not have to prove that the Notice reached its intended recipient within 14 days, merely that they believe that it arrived, but there may be a defence available if the intended recipient can convince a Court that the notice did not arrive in time or at all. In many cases, the registered keeper will be a lease company not the actual driver, with the result that even if the driver is unaware of the incident, service of the Notice is good if it was sent to arrive at the registered keeper's last known address within 14 days of the offence.
http://www.motorlawyers.co.uk/procedure/notice_of_intended_prosecution.php
So its ambiguous at best. This is how they usually get around it and why people have had to pay months later. As a general rule I wouldn't rely on it as a defence

Yeah, at the end of the day i think i was over the limit and will have to pay the penalty for my actions. if however the NIP is dated 14 days after the alleged offence i will be appealing. its worth a try.

I believe its only Legit if the Driver is Registered keeper (i.e. the person the NIP is being mailed too).
