Bonjour.
I was umming and arring as to what to get next when my DS3 lease ends in June. Literally didn't know what I wanted and tbh I still don't. James noticed the thread and decided to offer me his car. So I looked over the details and jumped at the chance. Fancy something cheap to buy to tinker with so this was perfect.
No decent pictures yet, as I am busy readying it for the MOT in a few weeks.
Here it is: (Advert photos)
2003 Astra Coupe Turbo.
Its been stood for a year and was in a fairly bad way, Shrek was let loose on it at Lemass on Friday and its now serviced and got a set of new GM stoppers.
Plans are to get it MOT'd and timing belt done.
Then tinker. I have pretty much got a list all sorted
1. Inbeforeitsagoodbase
2. Yes, I realise its a Vauxhall
3. Yes, I am nuts.
4. Robi... Ummm thats not allowed any more.

Can't say I have any plans to fit anything Irmshcher really. It had an Irmscher spoiler but it fell off

I remember really liking these when they were released.
That was ever such a long time ago though.

Yeah its 12 years old
Yes Ben, 2.0 Turbo, and will add some go faster bits as the turbo needs replacing so will have a VXR one on there soon.

It isn't what I expected to see when I opened the thread but I suppose it's a decent enough car to have for a bit but I'm sure during summer you'll get something fancy or new
It's a good car though, but I can't say they excite me much

It was cheap, so I plan on keeping it for the next year certainly.

Lovely. How cheap is cheap?
I wouldn't mind a coupe turbo but the common faults scare me as most seem to be at that mileage now where they start to suffer.
What's the plans? I'd keep it subtle tbh. Set of Eibachs, maybe Gsi front. Leave it spoiler less.

Any problems with them or have they been fixed. Think there's about 3 posts a day on Z20LET Lovers on FB people asking who can do seals with the head on. Bloody bad for them.

I like these. Decent colour too.
Surprised you went for one after not being a fan of your Mk4 GSi though. Surely it's not going to be hugely different...
Second time lucky?

At a tenth of the cost it's far nicer, it's flawed. Steering is my major gripe, but it has a charm. Can see out of this one which is an advantage.

It is boring and has no feel, why would it be any different? It is however, nippy and above all cost buttons. I want to tinker, this is perfect.
The steering is horrible. Throttle response allegedly improves if you use the CDTi airbox, but tbh im not after a race car im after something to tinker with that is practical and CHEEEAAAAPPP.

I quite like the way my Coupe handles. With the Eibach springs it takes away the boat feeling and on the twisties it takes very little effort steering wise. Possibly due to the Coupe being longer with more weight over the rear. Dunno.
I've got a battery bag here. It's off a vectra b but if you measure your battery/space and if itl fit you can have it if you cover the postage costs.
