Bought a car which has been registered for disabled road tax. How does it work now with me needing to tax it as PLG. Will I need to wait till dvla receive the v5 etc and the disabled tax is removed?

I took mine in to one of the main dvla offices. Can't for the life of me remember how I did it now but it only took twenty mins if that

Thanks, will try the P.O tomorrow.

How does it work though if the previous owner sends away updated v5 with my details, and by the sounds of it I need to fill out the same sort of application form at the P.O.

Its dead easy. If you have the v5 simply fill in the blue section in the taxation class and write in either petrol car or diesel car, to make sure they don't miss it draw a line from disabled to the blue section and highlight it, sign the bottom and send it off. Do loads at work all the time.

Or just wait for the v5 to come back in your name and then change it.
