I've been looking for a midweek break for me and the girlfriend at the end of August, and have been looking around the West Coast of Scotland. My main criteria were some kind of lodge/log cabin/cottage with a hot tub, and without breaking the bank!
Haven't found a right lot available because we've left it too late, but have found one near to Newton Stewart... Just wondering if anyone knows what there is to do around that area? Or what people recommend to visit? Willing to travel around a little bit to get anywhere good.
Or does anyone have recommendations of somewhere else to go that fits the criteria?

What sort of activities are you interested in?
In terms of West coast, somewhere like Oban might be a good choice as it is quite popular. Difficult to choose unless there's something in particular you'd like to do whilst there. Depends on willingness to travel North too.

I searched for places around Oban but most places that fit the bill are already booked up all summer.

Have you looked at anywhere in the Cairngorms area? Pick anywhere along the River Dee and you can't go wrong.
I'm slightly biased being from up this way but have a look at Aviemore, the place is beautiful. Search Coylumbridge, that may fulfill your accommodation requirements.

Great part of the world ( no bias here at all  )
Oban, is a good base - get ferry over to Mull for the day, visit Fort William - Glen nevis scenery is awesome, cable car up nevis range etc..
Girl in my work has a fancy guest house, can ask if she has accommodation or knows of anyone if you want?
Oh and bring your waterproofs it rains a lot!

Stayed in a lodge at the great glen a few times years ago, and in April me and the gf stayed at loch rannoch (kinloch rannoch hotel). Laggan dam is between loch rannoch and fort William, it's very cool.
Wouldn't stay there again though.

Visit Fort William? Why would you wish that upon anybody?! That place is shit, surrounding area is gorgeous though

Fort William itself is dire, tourist town that's about it. Out of season it's dull and boring. Go a bit further west to Glenfinnan or Roshven way. Mallaig is also amazing too.

Visit Fort William? Why would you wish that upon anybody?! That place is shit, surrounding area is gorgeous though
I grew up there, it's not that bad, perhaps not the most awe inspiring town in Scotland but it's a decent base for activities, Nevis Range, steam train to Mallaig, quick trip to Glenfinnan or if you're feeling energetic climb the Ben.

A good base yes, can't argue with that. So what we're saying is, the good thing about Fort William is that it's a good place to get out of and do other things?

Fuck Scotland, you live in harrogate, there is loads of places round the dales/national park. I stayed in a log cabin with a hot tub, was only £150 each for 4 nights and was excellent. We went to ingleton and did waterfall walk and a few other walks. Spent most of time chilling out in the log cabin relaxing. I think it was hoeseasons or richardsons. I booked it through Thomas cook

Stayed at the Lodge on the loch last week (Luss/Loch Lomond), they have rooms with hot tubs I believe, nice place actually. Also noticed a place with log cabins and hot tubs when we left there on way to Oban, so north a bit more.

Drimsynie is a lovely place. Missus parents' had a caravan there but ended up moving it as it was costing them £3500 a year in ground rent
