Car (1.4 16v Fiesta Duratec) has been suffering from what feels like a miss-fire on the odd occasion. Forums say this is coil pack. I've been putting up with it as there are no other symptoms, no EML and a blip of the throttle sorts it.
EML came on about 2 months ago. This was after some serious stuttering. Showed Bank 1 Position 1 Oxygen sensor. Cleared the faults with my mates OBDII and didn't come back on.
In town earlier today in Tesco's car park, EML has come on. No other symptoms, no stuttering etc.
Wouldn't be a problem, other than I have a 200 mile round trip Saturday - Monday for a friends wedding where I'm an Usher.
Going to try and use my mates OBDII thing again to clear the faults but reckon if it is nothing major and the clear fine, I should just drive it as normal and not worry?

You can clear the fault codes but that won't remedy the issue if there is an underlying problem.
Hard to say whether it would be OK for lengthy drive without knowing what fault code is present.
If it was a lambda fault again I would be happy enough to drive it and accept the slightly poorer fuel economy. Something like a lambda sensor could be easily replaced before the weekend if you diagnose it quickly.

I'm afraid you're going to have to scrap it.

My EML came on 300 miles into a 420 mile drive. Shit me right up at it was 2am and I was on a completely empty. Pitch black motorway.
The car has no issues and was running fine, so I pulled into the next service station, let the car cool down then continued for the next 100 miles with my bumhole clenched tightly!
The next day the light went off on it's own. Been fine ever since.
I did have a look on a code reader and I had a dodgy sensor, so changed that aswell as the coilpacks.

Bloody hell its an EML not an ejector seat warning.
Just keep driving and get the fault resolved in the near future.

So you can do a dash fault thing (which apparently doesn't actually tell you fault codes for the engine) by pressing the trip computer button and turning on the ignition. So, ready...

Ford friend stuck it on diagnostics. Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Position 1. His official word in Ford overalls, don't drive it. His word as a friend. Be alright, sort it when back from the wedding
Looking on ECP though, got an FAE part for £31. How does FAE rate over Bosch or NGK?

Had the EML come on on every car I've had.
Never caused any problems with anything.

How much is the bosch one? I went for oem on a CPS sensor as aftermarket sensors didn't get good reviews online. Not worth scrimping on engine stuff.

Well. Drove home. Still on. Filled up at Sainsbury's. Off and stayed off
Bosch one is double the price of the FAE. FAE is supposed to be OEM.
