So I have a 12 plate Mondeo diesel estate which needs it's annual service. On my cars I've always got my mechanic friend to sort it all out but this obviously means there is no stamping in the book - this never mattered before on my shonky old Corsa's, Astra's etc (neither came with books for a start )
I'm not going to main dealer it, but do I go Independent for the stamp or just get mates rates and keep all the receipts? It's out of warranty now anyway (3 years / 60k)...

get a stamp made up for a non existent independant ford specialist and stamp it yourself but let your mate do the work and keep receipts best of both worlds

If you're going to keep it for ages then keep doing what you're doing.
If you're going to sell soon, get it stamped or you'll get people trying to buy it off you for 50p.

Was religious with my '04 Fiesta but now I've had it a while and will be worthless when I sell it, I've decided to try and get it down on the cheap next time
And then hope an MOT finds anything a "service" might from a garage i.e. pads, brakes.

The money you save by going to Daves Motors will be more than the money someone will haggle because you didn't go to a main dealer.

I think the kind of people I want to buy my car are the kind who knows how shit a main dealer is and would prefer specialist stamps.
Main dealers love new cars because they're easy. Older ones with lots of stuff to do are their nightmare.

I put my vxr up for sale and took photos of the service book the last stamp in the book is my garage stamp it had numerous calls asking if the chains have actually been done and when I say yes it's my car they question the stamp and why I'm answering the phone I then explain its my garage and they go all weird as if it's dodgy despite me telling them I have receipts and photos of the work I even have a box with all the old parts in.

The big mistake most people make is to stamp inside the dealer box, this is technically fraud and looks dodgy as fuck.
