Any of you guys given one of these a go?
Other half wants to get a small sporty hot hatch.
1.4T with 150ps doesn't sound too bad.
I've seen them with the big comfy Recaros too.
Any comparisons to Corsa VXR?

If you are spending 16k on an Adam, I would at least test drive an Abarth 500. Extremely fun car, sounds amazing, can spec it with Sabelts and a more interesting brand with back story and community imo.

Would also be faster. 160bhp and the competizione is 180.
Edit - it won't be a comparison to the vxr, it would be more comparable to the Corsa Black Edition. I think that was a 1.4 turbo as well.

Yup, Abarth is on the cards already.
Only drawback, is that everybody has a 500.

If I was in the market for spending that sort of money on a small hatch. I'd be looking more towards a 6 month old A1 sline 150 TFSi with S Tronic.

I quite like these! Good thing they changed the name from Grand Slam, daft IMO!
But given the choice of that and an Abarth, no contest IMO.

If you go for a fiat get a stock of door handles every time you open the door they come off in your hand

Got a lovely White with Red roof Adam S in our showroom right now. Recaros inside are so nice!

Had a good look around one of these while we were messing around trying to buy a Corsa. Look really nice, we're not on the market for something quite so small but I've driven a few 500's, and I wouldn't turn my nose up at an Adam from what I've seen so far.
Bet they're loads cheaper too.

Depends on the spec of 500 you want. Bet the Adam won't hold its money as well.

500 is one of the worst cars I've ever driven. Admittedly it was a low powered one, but it felt awful. Every time I tried to steer my arm caught the door card.
I did enjoy the huge parcel shelf it has though.

Quoted for truth. Can also double up as tooth pick if required.

We had it as a hire car for 3 days on holiday but honestly I couldn't live with a car like that, more power or not, even as a second car. People obviously like them though, see loads. I did wonder from the shape if the Adam was based on the same chassis but I don't believe it is.

We looked at the Adam S recently, but it's so close to new Corsa VXR money that you'd be fucking bonkers to pick the Adam over the Corsa.
They'll not sell many, too expensive, IMO.

I really like the Adam but the cost is far too high.
I'll wait a few years!

Agree with what was said about the 500. I had a 1.2 courtesy car and I honestly think it's the worst thing I've drove. Knee was constantly hitting the dash. Can't see how a abarth would be any different.

Ok, so we went to look at a few small hatchbacks.
New 2015 Honda Jazz. Holy shizzle!
One of the ugliest things created by Honda. We've been a big fan of these, owning 3 of them previously. So ugly and odd looking, it's not even worth thinking about.
Civic Type R looks menacing though
New 2015 Fiat 500.
It's ok. Cute looks, I suppose. But nothing about the car floats the boat. I'd like to call it the Michael Kors, Radley purse, kind of car. Every girl wants one for image.
2015 Vauxhall Adam.
Quality feels much higher than that of the fiat. Solidly built, decent and generous equipment. Plenty of choice to customise to persons personality.
Pretty much feels like a rebodied Corsa with 4 seats instead of 5.
Quirky enough to satisfy cuteness box for girls.
Nothing to do with the car, but my god. Nothing worse than the dumb salesman. Idiot kept digging a bigger hole for himself with bullshit wrong info.
I think we'll go look at the Adam Slam, and the S. See which one ticks most boxes.
Also, the Adam Rocks, which is their crossover, rugged type, looks like a Down syndrome version.

Turns out a friend of a friend bought one of these last week. Hers has the speaker upgrade (forgot the name but it's a good brand name) and cloth seats. The recaros are 1k extra. She paid 15k.

Hey Richard,
I got an Adam just over 2.5 years ago for the commute to work. Obviously not the S trim but we specced it with a few extras which are good.
No large engine needed as it's only averaged 17 mph from new! No issues to report, it's been a great little car.

Hello Timmy
Which model did you go for?
Engine wise, I don't think she actually cares that much. She wants it to look sporty more than anything else.
Personally, I want the biggest engine possible
Looking at used ex demo ones, you can pick them up fully spec 'd with Recaros from £13k, which ain't too bad.

We went with a Jam and a few options. The Glam didn't offer anything we wanted and I felt too old for the Slam
I've found my original thread on it - http://www.corsasport.co.uk/board/viewthread.php?tid=653924&highlight=1&pid=8713469#pid8713469
