I was lucky enough to take this beast home with me for an entire weekend a couple of weeks ago. It's a pre production model of the 2016 Continental GT Convertible V8S powered by a 520bhp twin turbo V8 lump. I clocked up over 800 miles in the space of 2 1/2 days and boy is she a thirsty beast! Thankfully it came with a fuel card Enough talk, here are some pics for you all to enjoy.

Normally hate them but like that and can't help but think it has got better with age.
What I really want to know is how much fuel you put in it over the 800miles?!

Fantastic looking car, but doesn't it look strange with the mirrored dash? Its the sort of thing you seen a super low-budget mini-hatch when they are trying to cut down production costs

And I was looking forward to you telling us that you had traded in your T4 for three of these.

Wow, what a job perk that is! Iirc you work for Bentley so what did you have to do to blag this gift?
I'd be rolling around pretending i'm rich AF all weekend could quite easily troll a few distant family members, telling them you've won the lottery and see who comes out the woodwork begging for money.

I'm talking about the dash not the 'cluster'.. The whole thing is a mirror down the middle, do you see what I mean?

It is a pre-production model, hence why it is LHD. If anyone is ever around Warwickshire you will see loads of LHD Jags and Landrovers.

That just looks like a gloss finish, same as on 99% of modern cars.

I'm not explaining myself very well!
The ENTIRE DASH is symmetrical other than the wheel/cluster:

You don't normally see that on high end motors as the dash will be sculpted to the driver and the passenger wont have the 'shroud' for the cluster.

Ahh, you mean mirrored left to right
I agree, you normally only see that on vans now. I think it looks alright and it will have saved them 1 or 2 million quid in tooling costs and a chunk of development costs too.

Which was sort of my point When you are making a prestigious saloon car why would you cut corners so obviously?
It looks like its probably got a traditional automatic fluid transmission too?

Like I said above its a fantastic looking car, and it will cost a small fortune its just a bit disappointing that a German saloon worth half as much will probably be "technically" better spec'd.

It's a European spec model. The transmission is the latest 8 speed offering from ZF transmissions. I hate automatics with a passion bit these boxes are quality. Very direct and quick gear change. Not your normal wallowy auto box.
Getting hold of one for the weekend doesn't happen very often, this is the 2nd time in 3 years I've had one. We have to fill out lots of justification paperwork. I wanted it to support future model development work we are currently focusing on.
As for the symmetrical dash configuration, its a traditional Bentley design feature. The dash is actually covered in highly polished wooden vaneer. Very impressive in the flesh. When you see one in the flesh, I can guarantee you would not be making comparisons to cheap mass manufactured cars. The quality is of another leauge

I don't think it will be cheap in the flesh I'm just making a generalisation based on other manufacturers that use slosh boxes and symmetrical dashboards
So is it a hydraulic box? or have they fitted something modern?

The mirrored dash (i know what you mean now) appears to be a Bentley tradition. I actually prefer it. Not keen on Ferrarildashes and like where everything is angled towards the driver.
F type is also a good example.

It's a modern wet clutch ZF auto gear box, its a lot more advanced than your typical hydraulic box. BMW and land rover use it a lot too
