I have a huge pile of used and dirty Microfibre cloths in my garage that need either cleaning or binning.
Someone once told me that putting them in a washing machine ruins the pile. Unsure whether this is true or false, but I do know you can't use fabric softener to clean them.
So how do you all clean yours? It's becoming quite expensive to keep buying more from costco every year.

I lob them in the missus washing pile, she washes them and sticks then back in the bag under the stairs
Some have gone a bit crap but most are ok. Didn't know you couldn't use fabric softener

Mine have been washed in washing machine and are fine, just put em on a gentle wash or hand wash them in detergent in a bowl.

I lob mine in a 40 degree wash and then tumble dry them. No issues so far....unlike the time i accidentally lobbed my chamois leather cloth in a 90 degree wash...came out a quarter of its original size and felt rubbery like burger cheese!

White vinegar instead of conditioner brings them up a treat.

As Phil said. I let them naturally dry then tumble dry them for a little to soften them up.

I tend to bin them. Buy mine off eBay for around 75p each.
I'd wash them if i was paying good money for them.

Only people to ask, are the people property into detailing.
Most of the advice here won't be the best, unless that person is heavily into detailing.
I've heard what vegasphil is recommending before too

Those ones are shite. I've used them and they don't do half as good a job as the costco ones, which are £36 for 2 bags.

£17 for 36, 47p a cloth. But you need to buy 2 bags, so £34 for 72. They're great value, but it's a lot of cash to keep wasting if i were to throw them all away.
I'm getting more money wise in my old age
Been using these years and they are far superior to the supermarket cloths.

The way I would look at it after that breakdown is......
47p cloth, only have to use it once and it's paid for itself in my eyes
How long do 72 cloths last you? If it's more than 6 months then 34 quid isn't much in the big scheme of things.

I use approx 3 cloths per wash. 2 cars, 6 cloths.
Then a few cloths for Polish, glaze, wax, exhaust, door and boot sills etc.
They soon go.

Ended up pre washing them in the sink with fairy liquid a couple of times, then chucked them on a 40 cotton wash, then air dried and finally in the tumble dryer for a bit.
22 cloths, 20 look brand new. 2 have a couple of black patches on. Not bad at all.
