I've been offered a set of 20s for my wheels plus some cash. I'm really tempted to go for them but I have a feeling they may rub as my car is lowered. (Unknown amount) does anyone have any experience or know if they would fit? The tyre size on my alloys are 235/45/18 , the 20s are 245/40/20.
Attached a few photos see what anyone thinks. Cheers

The height of your tyre on the 18 inch is 26.32 inches. The height on the 20 is 27.71 inches. Divide by two and hold the tape measure in the centre of the wheel on the car and sweep it like compass to see if it will fit.
Used this we site to work it out http://www.blackcircles.com/general/tyre-size-calculator

The new wheel will be 17.65 mm larger all the way round. Just from looking at the pics id say it would fit. Unless its much wider

Cheers for the reply mate , Looking like they will fit then. Just the offset and width I'm concerned about now. My wheels are et46 the 20s are et41.
My wheels are 235 width and the 20s are 245.
I wonder....

with the measurements you gave the inside of the tyre will be in exactly the same place, just will be 10mm wider towards the wheel arch
math:
your wheels:
235mm wide = centre is 117.5mm + offset of 46mm means inside of tyre is 163.5mm from the wheel hub
new wheels:
245mm wide = centre is 122.5mm + offset of 41mm means inside of tyre is 163.5mm from the wheel hub

Love those wheels you have posted. They came in 19" on some editions of the J I believe.

Correct they came in 19s on the 5 doors and 20s on the gtc model. Never seen a 5 door with 20s...

Make sure the fitment matches as there are two PCDs for the J, 5x105 and 5x115

Going down to test fit them tomorrow. Pretty confident they will fit with no rubbing just worried that the tyres will look too chunky.

Sadly new tyres isn't an option they cost far too much lol plus these had basically brand new continental sport contact 5s on them

They actually make the 18s look lost lol when you turned the wheel the tyre was catching the inner mud guard as well. Gutted
