To be honest if i had the space i would have done it by now
Have really fond memories of my old vts and have an urge to drive one again.
Dont see many vts or 106 gti about anymore. Would be good to keep a nice one. Couple doing the rounds on the net for not too bad money.
Vts with 50k on
Clean 106 gti. With all history from new.

Do it! You're not really going to lose much money if you keep it 12 months then decide to get rid. Try and get it on a classic insurance policy, I pay £142 a year for my Corsa.

I always think the GTI looks better but a Rallye would be a better investment

Do it Gav, I tell thee 172 are going through the stage where easily fixed issues are being ignored because owners are imbeciles and instead being broke, which the same thing happened to 205 GTi and Clio Williams & 16v, buy one while they are cheap they'll start going up in value when most of them have been broke for bits instead of fixed

As Robin said, try to find a Rallye?
I loved my XSi 16v. One car that I regret selling.

Had both and would have both again in a heartbeat.
Would have to be the 106 for me.
Nothing you can drive now offers the driving experience of a French hatch of that age. Instant throttle response, punchy engine and real steering feel.

I had a 106 exactly the same as the one in the picture, 100% standard and loved it like that

Its crazy how times change. Cant remember the last time i saw a vts or gti on the road. Used to be absolutely everywhere!
I love my gt86 to bits but miss having a little toy and something to tinker with.
The vts out of the two i think would be the better buy. As its half the price of the gti and can only really go up in value if its a sound example.
just would need to work out where to keep it. Would be a shame to get a nice one and leave it sitting on the drive.

I loved my old gti. This is what really got me into the whole car thing tbh.
My wife's old one was more for show. Bit on the blingy side.
She then bought a phs1 vts. I hated driving this but in all honesty it was the quicker out the 3 lol.

Buy one if you want one. I bought a Corsa GSi recently. Haven't even started tidying it up yet, and it's just been sat out the back, but still happy I own it, and confident enough it'll not depreciate.
