Ive got a 1.2 corsa SXI 2002 and I'm having problems with my temperature it shoots right up onto red, also it goes through water coolant like anything, I'll fill it full and the next day it's gone! On top of that my engine light is on and it's in limp mode and there's a dangerous amount of fumes coming out the exhaust, OIL IS FINE! No mayonnaise in oil so I crossed off the fact that it's head gasket, when in limp mode it stalls easy and is painfully slow, My heaters also don't work only cold air comes out so that maybe might have some sort of connection ie Heating Matrix, these might be separate problems or one problem causing it all. But I would appreciate it if someone can point me in the right direction!

Does your fan switch on when the temp shoots up?

Yeah when I switch my engine off I can hear it still on when it's on like 110•c

Weird cause it sounds like the thermostat, but if it's white smoke coming from exhaust then could possibly be head gasket.
I had the same problem when I first bought my B, overheated, had to refill coolant constantly but had no gunk on my oil cap etc. but ended up being a head gasket problem

Changed the water pump and the temperature sensor, I've lost about 4 litres in the past 2 weeks, if it was head gasket you'd know by the dipstick and its fine no mayonnaise or anything

Sounds exactly like my brothers old SXi, was the head gasket in the end although there was no mayo on the cap.

Depends what part of the head gasket might be gone. If it's the inner section yeah you'd get spoogee shit under your cap, if it's on the outer part of the gasket, the water will piss out once hot but you won't notice any spooge. Either that or you have a hole in your rad / rad hose.

Fumes from the exhaust - white smoke?
All that water has to go somewhere and it sounds like its being combusted.
Another vote for HG, just because its not mixing with the oil doesn't mean you don't have a leak in the water way.

Drove it to work this morning and within 3 minutes it was already on maximum tempterure, after leaving it out all night in the cold, although the engine light didn't come on this morning?

Another side note the other day I checked the cap and it was empty, drove 15 seconds round to the water pump at the garage opened the cap again and it was full?:/ I thought I was going crazy but I thought it might have something to do with compression, might be connected maybe not

My engine light never came on and had the exact same issues of heating up too quickly. If you have the compression checked then you will likely have one head gasket lower than normal

Engine light will only come on if the ECU can tell something is wrong. Physical failure like that isn't really metered so assuming your other measurements are ok, knock, lambda etc. and its not misfiring too badly then you don't see a light.

If it's dropped compression that much it should be struggling to start too
