Possibly changing jobs which means ill lose my company car.

Due to shifts me/mrs works i will need my own car with 4 seats.

The car must be fun and nice looking.

Budget is probably 8k max. Want 80k miles or less.

Age is unimportant. Would like 30mpg on a run.

So far e46 M3 looks a likely contender - prices are on the up too.

Did consider a 335d but they arent very special.

What am i missing in budget?

2 door, vert, saloon, estate im not arsed so long as its nice

Would probably prefer to avoid fwd

I actually reckon this thread is some elaborate premeditated excuse to sell the yellow peril in a month or so.

Good point 3CM. Just like he did with the MKII Cav, got bored with the "project" then sell it on.

The cav wasnt a project? It was a car i bought that needed welding, i did the work then a car id always wanted came up and i bought it.... Then sold the cav to get the cash back.

This will be a daily driver family car, the kadett isnt going anywhere at all

So its looking more likely... Think of upping the budget a tad and getting a 335i...

Seem tunable, 400bhp with fmic, exhaust, pre cats and induction...

Would want manual i think

Not sure what body style.... Estate is most practical, saloon a nice mid ground, coupe loks best but im yet to own a vert

What do we know? What to look for?

I would strongly recommend staying away from a manual.

why is that - the ZT boxes in manual and auto are both fabulous

Also alot of auto gearbox issues at present - if you read the forums

I prefer manual but both are good - in a 3 series auto is probably better suited

Waste time changing gear when the car can do it better and faster for you. Plus the boxes are generally a lot stronger.

depends how you like the drive - alot of BMW members state a manual feels more involving - but again its own preference - no right or wrong answer for me

Depends who you speak to

Lets say they are as good to not upset people - having driven both I prefer the ZT boxes in the BMW

if your looking at e90 model the DSG boxes are probably better actually - the newer ZT boxes are much improved
