Around the end of the November this was about to go for scrap as the cambelt had failed, as it happens my other half could do with a car for 6 months while the local public transport is off but with a wedding fast approaching, disposable income is pretty low Decided this would be ideal so set about saving it, it's a late model 1400 Sport with only 49k on the clock with FSH.
Was pretty obvious on stripping it what caused the problem.
Bought complete top end from a GSi for £80 and fitted the head and cams, retained the rest of the bits from the 1400.
All done
MOT ran out last week so my first proper drive of it was to the test station yesterday but it flew threw it.
No other plans for it now, replace the side repeaters as they are crappy eBay jobbies that are hanging off and give it a decent wax.
I think all together it has cost me around £450 to buy it and get it on the road, not to bad really and saves another one from the scrap man
Going to use it the next 10 days while i'm off work to fine tune any issues, it needs tracking as well so i'll get that done.
Plan is to keep it until June when the trains come back on

GSi was relocated for a couple of weeks while I used my garage to work on this in the evenings, I am actually moving to the garage this afternoon so hopefully I can start on the jobs on that over the next couple of weeks
Only downside of this Corsa is that the few quid I had stashed aside for some work on the GSi is what paid for this.

I'm loving it right now, perfect for local driving while I'm off work, replaced the blown center console bulbs today.

It's £450, you could spend that on a night out.
Cloths, hotel, transport, food & drink...
And I bet he had a whole load of fun working on the motor.

The only way you would spend that on a night out is paying people to be seen with you.

Been running this for over 6 months and done a few thousand miles in it.
Had to replace both rear wheel bearings and stub axles that cost around £45 for the bits, other than that it's great, glad I saved it
