Need something bigger to cart my wee fella round in, at the moment we only have a KA & MINI between me and the missus! Not ideal.

Basically I just want under 10 seconds from a 0-60 time. Don't care much about the rest... she wants 5 doors obviously, and not too big or powerful (been driving less than 2 years so insurance and in some respects experience doesn't warrant it)

So far come up with things like:

A3 S-Line
Golf GT
Leon FR
A200 Turbo
Astra SRi
Civic VTEC 1.8

Any other ideas or opinions on the above?

That's good to know, they're bloody rare though! Only a couple for sale in the country at the moment (should have mentioned we only have a few thousand to through at this really)

I like the Octavia, even the estate! Too big for the missus though, she won't touch it if it's not a 'traditional' hatch

The Octavia is a foot longer than a golf. Get one with sensors easy peasy to park!

I really like the Fabia too but actually it has a surprisingly small boot! 260 liters I think.

The KA & MINI are even less... all the cars I've mentioned are 300 to 350 or more. A definite upgrade, plus the extra doors of course.

We went for an Astra Estate and replaced the 3 door 207.
It's been a great car. Don't think we will be replacing it for a while.

Used Skoda's are pretty cheap. When the Astra is replaced wouldn't mind another Skoda. Mine has been a great car, granted it's only done 16k.

If you go for a civic the boot is huge. Engine wise I would be tempted by the 2.2 desiel.

I quite like the sporty s-max as a family wagon. Might be a bit big and thirsty though

I had the 1.8 Civic for about three months, painfully slow. The diesel was the one to have.

The Civic boot is mental yeah, bigger than some estates I was looking at!

Talking of Astras actually, I saw a 5 door SRi with the exterior pack the other day and thought it looked really good in white. Bloody rare though, 95% of them seem to be in silver which is horrible. I'm aware this guy as added an extra exhaust pipe but

Yeah maybe, can't find another picture though they're that rare! Still... apart from the exhaust as mentioned, and removal of badges, that's basically how they come as standard anyway.

Would dispute that (not sure if anything has changed since a 2014 model) but worse auto gearbox I've ever had the pleasure of driving on an A220d.

The new 9 speed is amazing though.

The merc in general was shite for what retails at circa 35k.
