I've got a couple of insurance policy's in my name that allows me to drive other cars third party.
I'm being a bit tight here but can i use the wife's car to pull another car on a trailer?

Not unless you have the correct license.

I would rather lose by a mile because i built my own car, than win by an inch because someone else built it for me.

I thought a few years ago you were planning on towing your 'track' car. Did you not think of needing a license for that?

What is the tow vehicle? I think you'd overload that first.

Another Skoda Octavia - believe 1800kgs
I don't want to pay another £250 a year on a car I will only drive a few times per year, would work out cheaper to rent something.

If I understand what you’re asking, I’m pretty sure there’s no issue with insurance there.

your loaded trailer cannot weigh more than the tow car and the weight of the whole train cannot weigh more than 3.5t basically.
There's a little more to it than that, but that's the main points you will need to adhere to.
