depends how long it takes you to earn the £1660 is it a month, a week or a year

i usually take 25% off for National Insurance and Tax then i usually get a lil bit more. But all depends what tax band ur in. So would depend like vauxgirl said on if thts a wk/month or year

so round about 20K a yr > i think that puts u in lower tax band so taking of NI and tax u will prob get just above £1245 i reckon

accountants must have an easy job, once u got the formulas u can just plug in different numbers and press return, let a computer do it....

im an acct and i do the payroll where i work as well
u take ur annual salary and deduct ur tax code ie 4615 (the basic code) then the 1st £1960 is @ 10% and then between £1961 and £30500 is @ 22% (Kindness - 23% was in like 1997!!!!) then above that its 40%
NI, if ur paid mthly any earnings between £4004 and £30940 r @ 11%. ALL earnings above £30940 r also subject to 1% NI Sucks 2 be rich
Its all then complicated by Penison schems, contributions, SAYE, GAYE etc etc
