right as u know the sxi annd sri come with the standard cd player, not a usual head unit but a specially made dash thingy.
Anybody know anything about these, do they have the outputs to connect an amp and sub to?
If no where could i get a new head unit that fits properly and dont make my dash look ugly

Hi,
I've got a new Sxi, the standard HU don't have Sub and Amp outputs, i bought a Sub and Amp and tried to wire up RCA outputs from the rear-speaker wires, but the HU wsa having none of it and kept turning itself off.
In the end i bought a facia adaptor, sprayed it silver, whilst i was doing that i also re-sprayed the centre air vent section and the domed section that the clock fits into. I got a sony Headunit and all has been good.
Word of advice, decide before you start cutting into your wires whether you are going to keep your standard HU, or if you are going to buy a new one. I first of all wanted to keep the original HU but in the end just got a new one, so all the wire cutting i done was unnecesary.
Hope that helps

you can get the facia clips from your local halfords they just go in to the four holes in each corner of the headunit then pull out.

the facia can come from halfords, it actually comes from Autoleads but they can order it, off the top of my head i cant remember the code for the silver one, but if you find the code for the black one I THINK its the same plus "/s" on the side.
Personally I got a Alpine Mp3 head unit (great player) with 4x 60w outputs, because this was a high output head unit it needed a new feed from the battery etc so I paid the pros at Soundstage near me to do it. Well worth it. ALSO if you have steering wheel controls alpine do a £60 odd unit to interface these controls with the new alpine unit, and DAMN its worth it.

yes at the moment, so I dont turn my stereo further then 11 in fear that they might melt or something, and 11 is pretty fucking loud. Though I'm going to be getting a new set of fronts as thats on my buylist atm. Working from the front to the back. Finishing off with a amp(s)/sub

Yeh the fronts aren't bad at all, the rears are shit.
I didn't have to cut wires to connect up a new head unit, but i did if i wanted to run an amp and sub off my standard one, that is why i started cutting wires, in the end i couldnt be arsed with the hassle so just bought a new head unit, making all of my wire cutting unneccesary

lol that sucks red_sxi.
I'm going to this company soon for some bodypaint and I think they can match any colour for plastics or whatever, going to see if they can knock me up a can of spray colour of the centre dash, then colour code using that, look so much better.

Can get an adaptor for quite a few headunits to use the steering wheel controls, think there about £80 ish. Thats what my local ice dealer told me. Autoleads might also do the adaptor.
