As I'm going to be fitting it myself to my Corsa B 8v, would it be easier to drop the engin in, then attach the gearbox from under the car, or drop the car onto the engine & gearbox in one piece??
I'm doing the work in my driveway
Any ideas?

lift engine with crane, undo bolts. Drop engine onto floor (putting a board underneth makes it easier), lift car, slide old engine out. Slide new engine in, lower car, lift engine, do up bolts. Job done.

I dont think I could quite lift my car front up, kick the engine under with my foot & lower it down with my bare hands
wont be for a while, just got myself an engine stand to rebuild the engine in the garage, completely strippin it down, reborin it, rebuildin it & then gona get it set up by my m8 who works for RC developments

use a biggish trolley jack and some planks of wood, slide the jack about a quarter of the way up the car about in line with the mirrors, then slide the wood plank across the jack, make sure the jack is in themiddle of the car , width ways . you should be able to get it high enough to slide engine in.then when the engines in place drop the car onto axle stands, the lift one side of engine up on jack onto a block of wood. then jack otherside up onto another piece of wood get a mate to steady engine from top and get your jack in middle of engine and lift upto mounts.
