I want to race someone in a 1.2 16v Sxi (preferably Corsa B) with 17's on at santa pod this sunday!
The reason being I want to see how much of a difference having 17's on will make to acceleration compared to mine on 15's...
Because the sxi has a close ratio gear box anyway, having the larger wheels wouldn't make as much difference I would of thought (since the larger wheels make the gearing longer)
Of course it'll make some difference, but how much is I want to find out ... So, who's up for a race?

most likely, the gear box in a corsa B Sxi and a corsa normal 1.2 16v B is different.
Do you have 17's?

I can't see how the wheels will make the gearing longer, if the rolling radius is exactly the same. I obviously realise they're heavier, but if the rolling radius is the same it shoudn't effect gearing at all

Why would the rolling radius be the same?
my current wheels are 15"s with 45 profile tyres... If I got 17's with 40 profile they'd still be bigger than my 15's!
fads, is sxijoe going? is his a standard sxi with 17" alloys?
How does santa pod work? can you actually choose who you race? if yes - all 1.2 owners - bring it on
Paul J
Please note, I wouldn't think I'd be that good - my clutch is a bit crap and I've never been on a drag strip before so my starts are bound to be shit.

You sit in a big long two-lane queue, and race whoever you get to the line next to......if a mate can be bothered walking ALLLLL the way down the queue and counting back, you can arrange cars once you get to the paddock-area so that you race each other.
Well, that's what it's like at the standard RWYB days, anyway...

alright, I'm up for racing any 1.2's...
you get 3 runs for £12... so how about joe, trotty and jr... all have a go against me?
trust me I'm likely to lose guys - my cars in a shit state, and I've only got standard exhaust (so its hardly breathing v.well) ... Should be a laugh!
It'd be more fun doing 1.2 vs 1.2 than 1.2 vs 2.0 turbo - or whatever ...

what you laughing at? the fact that people who can't afford to buy / insure a supra or a 2 litre corsa want to have the experience of going up the strip and a laugh while they're at it.
