no they didnt really think it was stolen but police HAVE to give a reason to pull you over, if they cant find a reason then they will make something up

You should ask on what grounds did they beleive it was stolen?

They need to have a reason otherwise you can complain about harrassment...
You are within your rights to ask there reasons...they must give u an answer!

They dont need a reason at all, they can pull you for a routine stop if they want. And you were comitting an offence by not having your documents on you so they were right to pull you over.
Thats what the law side of me says, the other side agrees wiv ya totally Dan.

No the law is they cannot pull u over without a reason altho most of the time they can make one up so its a bit pointless

its not a crime to not having ur documents on u, as long as you show em within 7 days.
And I'd rather be stopped than not stopped, for all they know you could have been driving a stolen car.
If you've done nothing wrong what have you got to be worried about, its not like ur in a rush at 3am, probably on ur way home.

Thing is random checks are good. Think how many cunts are caught this way driving stolen/dangerous cars or with no license/insurance. I think it's ok, annoying yes but at least they are trying
