I just converted a corsa rear beam to discs at the weekend .
first you get your donor beam

mine came from the k reg cavy sri I got my 2.0 16v from then you
unbolt the hubs

that lets you get at the spacer plate that is welded to the beam
and has the holes with the with the hub to fit,
carefully grind off the beads of weld from each side of the plate
(arrowed)try not to buff into the plate as you need it

Then you get your corsa beam I got another from the scrappy
for £20 so as to keep my car on the road and you unbolt the drum
hub and remove the spacer plates from the beam taking care not
to grind into the beam this time ,chuck the small corsa plates and
offer up the cavy plates you will see the difference right away, clamp
the plate onto the beam , I set it so that the plate is level with the
top edge of the beam and the hole in the middle centred ,you have to
be very accurate to get both sides the same as this affects where the wheels will sit in your arches but dont worry too much as theres not a
lot of room on the beam surface so you can't go far wrong then weld
the plates onto the beam. The hubs bolt through this plate so the welding does'nt have to be ship building standard just a zip up each side
I borrowed an arc welder for this and it made short work of it

Then I drilled out the beam at the cavy spacings in the plate just
welded on and opened out the centre hole to suit the abs type
hub that later cavys and astras have, early mk2 gtes dont have the
lump sticking out the back so will just bolt straight on (they also
have bolts through the hub not studs and nuts like the cavy)

then I bolted on the hub the top 2 nuts will need a bit of relieving
cos they are very close to the edge of the beam now

This took me about 4 hrs to do, the metal it quite heavy so you
need a good drill with sharp bits a grinder ,access to a welder

just need to sort out the h/ brake now I'm going to work it
so it keeps the standard corsa cables if I can but first I want
to get the 2.0 engine in find ing times a baitch

mark is right, they only do a kit which is 99 pounds now, they dont do the full rear beam and never have cos they couldnt get it working well apparently. the kit includes mounting brackets for the hubs calipers and handbrake from an astra or cav.

Craigos : Did you make your own adaptor plates etc??? or did u buy them from pvd ??

Im very intrested in doing this also,

Might sound a little silly but, am i right that the 'donor beam' is another corsa beam and not a cavalier beam arnt i ?? I was a little confused.

I have access to cavalier front and rear calipers discs and pads, i just need the adaptor kit for the rear discs.

You can do it yourself. The "doner beam" may have been a completly new corsa rear beam. Can get em down the scrappy for bugger all. I just used my original corsa rear beam and modified that.

All u need of the cav is the adaptor plate (different stud pattern hence why teh corsa one needs to be re-drilled and welded over), rear calipers and discs
