as i said in the other post. its usually got something to do with the region its from. 1-6 i think.

OJC - they are playing black and white coz your tely is PAL and not NTSC (american) either that or the person who burnt the copy is shit

I said that it could be because out DVD player is not multi-regional, but its a top of the range Sony one

If they are another format possibly NTSC like America instead of PAL they need to run through a scart socket instead of the red/white/yellow auxiliary plug. The TV can be PAL but the output from the player needs to go into a scart input socket on the TV from a scart output socket on the player.

DVD players can be cabled a few ways but if the disc is in NTSC format, it will need to be connected via a scart lead.
