Has anyone got any pics or advice on building a false floor in the boot and/or where the rear seats should be?

how does having a false floor effect where the seats should be? - all you do is get a bit of mdf - cut it to the shape of your boot floor then get some other bits and brace it up high enuff to cover the amps or whatever, u need to have a mdf floor under that to and screw it to it - i know thats basic but it is a false floor at the ned of the day.

Well the plan is to get rid of the parcel shelf, and rear seats, and just build a flat false floor (possibly with a secret compartment - for what I don't know haven't thought about that yet!).

im getting rid of all my speakers and just putting in a rear strut brace and a couple stealth boxes and build amps under floor so its nice and clean and still sounds good

Does enbedding your amps into a false floor affect the ventiflation that they need to disperse the heat or will they be ok?

And how do you secure the false floor to the car?

my false floor is bolted onto the bit that bolts onto the middle of the rear bench which also raises it a bit too.

Basically:

Removed all seats, seatbelts etc.
Went down to Waitrose, nabbed loads of boxes, and made a template with sissors and staples of the back end of the car.

Bought some thin plywood and cut it to the shape of the carboard template.

Adjusted, trimmed plywood template, bought some MDF (2 peices).

Put peices next to each other on the floor, put plywood template over it and drew round it. Made it so the wood splits down the middle of the car so it fits snugly.

Cut the MDF to shape

Worked out what gaps were under the floor/shell, and filled it with sound deadening/foam.



Carpetted false floor.

Fitted it.

U can see how the gaps down the middle. When putting it in i need to put both peices in like /\ and push them down from the top (where they meet) so they push into the sides of the car to make a nice tight fit.



I haven't made the peice going from the false floor to the rear footwells (behined the front seats) yet. But im going to do it, just gonna use the same method as above, but make one going across the car, and screw it into the horizontal floor.

i was thinking maybe just carpet it instead of the mdf and maybe even have the carpet covering the subframes and stuff

it kinda does - if they heat up to much get some of the fans with LED's in that ice shops sell for 20 quid from www.ebuyer.com under the case modding section - they are like 3quid.

but generally as long as they are only recessed and not totally covered then they should be ok - if you put them under perspex or sumthing a fan to suck and one to blow at the edges of the floor would be a good plan.

the fan stuff was for mav - also i secure them into the car by currint the base to fit the floor very tightly so that it hooks round the rear suspension pillar bits in the boot - it then cant move at all - all the stuff then gets screwed to that - bonza

it will break - but what are you gonna do that wont break if someone crashes into you? - i maen at the end of the day its all generally made form mdf so its only ever gonna be as strong as the MDF regardless of how it is attached.
