Anyone know of the impounding laws that traffic police are enforcing?

My mate got pulled 3-4 days ago, they done him for window tints, de-cat, lowered suspension, all sorts. They impounded his car and wanted 1000 quid to get it released. or 9 points. ???

What the FU*K are they on??

They wouldnt have been able to detect a de cat on the side of hte road. If you say that you want to take it to an independant MOT garage to have it all checked over i think you are within rights.

yes they can check exhausts at the road side

if they feel the car is unroadworthy then they are doing their job

Maybe the wheels were catching on the arches and they saw that as dangerous.

Scott, I agree I cannot be bothered with modifications.

I plan on letting my girlfriend drive my car anyway. I don't use it during the week I use my bike.

Nope, my car does not need a cat. Goes on the engine, not the car.
