my brothers amp doesn't work, so he wanted to try it in my car to double check, i told him i didn't want to cause mines secured down and neat and tidy. In the end i allowed him to swap em over.
Did this and established his amp doesn't work for various reasons.
Now, though, mine doesn't work at all, i plugged it in correctly, no shortings, turned it on, music played fine, then crackled so i turned it off.
had a look in the boot and the amp had smoke pouring from it? what happened.
The fuse on the amp is OK, and the fuse on the power cable is ok. The fuses are of the correct ampage too.
thanks
Matt

dunno if its the same problem as i had, but my amp didnt have a short circuit protection on it, which caused all sorts of problems, and about £200 of garage bills till it was finally traced! Id recommend not connecting it up again until you know whats wrong, just in case!

sounds a bit like the voltage protection unit mite have gone.
take it along to your local audio shop and let them send it off for you (only a good shop).
they'll give you a quote for fixing it, and if u aint happy to pay it then u dont have to
