I think the new mini is to big and has out classed the mini badge. I know the cooper S is rapid but i don't really class it as a hot hatch

Whether it is a hot hatch is beyond question. I was just wondering is people would care to add to that quote from an well know and well respected peoformance car magazine.

my car is the most complete hot hatch of all time

The Cooper S Works is not standard though is it, as the name implies, it is a performance upgrade and costs £3.5k!

0-60 is not a true measure of a car. The Cooper S is the complete package. Unlike many rivals at the moment eg the Civic Type R, it is not not just a one trick pony.
Gambit - The MKII is indeed an excellent car for its time and one of the originals that started it all, but it simply cannot compare to the modern alternatives.

The CTR is a quicker all round car by lots anyway over the Cooper S and is much cheaper.

then the mini cooper can only be called the most complete hot hatch of its day......
all time takes into account the technology available at the time.

It is quicker in a straight line but the overall package is not a patch on the Mini IMO. The Mini is also cheaper brand new by some £1500.

Lovley cars. Your forgetting they have like 17"s as standard. Little ish cars, but again very heavy and great build quality.
Wonder what a stripped out mini with 200+bhp (they say 200bhp, but a lot have been getting between 210-220bhp) could do

id have a civic type r as theyre faster and handle better
ive read a few magazine articles comparing the best of todays hot hatches around racing circuits, and nearly all said that the cooper s was noticeably heavier which seriously stunted its handling

Yea, 200BHP is a very conservative estimate as a lot of the tuners are German where they adhere to very strict standards which result in conservative estimates.

i dont c how it can really be classed as a mini,
onl things that realy resemble the mini is the cooper bonnet stripes,
they've tryed to resemble the look, but it hasnt worked, its a very nice car, but its not the mini cooper that i used to love,
the bmw one is a very much larger car than the classic mini
