I was reading the FAQ about tuning the 1.2 16v and noted the comment about the possition of the cat producing a great deal of heat in the engine bay.
Now my engine gets reallly hot and causes flatspots etc....
Would it be possible, advisable, benefitial to insulate the catalitic converter with something?

i would have thought the exhaust manifold would create just as much heat.
so if ur gonna insulate the cat, u might as well do the manifold as well. hell, do the whole exhaust system lol

i serioulsy wouldnt worry about wrapping ur CAT
if your getting flatspots then get cold air feeds
and if your wrap your manifold and cat then this just makes the unwrapped exhaust even hotter which can lead to melting bodywork & hangers etc

try to get in touch with a company called unifrax - think website is www.unifrax.com they make both the heat proof material used inside catalytic converters and also the heat proof shield material for space shuttles

no, for a small piece, enough to go between the cat and body shouldnt be much
