They aint really that much different speed wise till you get up to the 2.2 and the Turbo's.
1.4 16V is Quiker than the 1.6 8V but not far behind the 1.6 16V
The 1.8 16V and the 2L 16V are not really that much different.
2.2 is in a different class though As is the SRI,GSI,COUPE Turbo's

THE 1.6 16V IS 105 BHP I thinks, its not an XE16 engine either its a newer eco tec engine, still quite nippy 0-60mph in 10.5secs 0.2 secs behind a zetec s

Alan to be honest, I cant believe there would be 10mph out on the speedo on a car as new as this... I believe my 130mph was indeed around 125

Vauxhall Astra MK4, has the Z16XEL engine, with 100bhp. It is similar in design to the X16XE found in the Corsa Sport/GSi, but has a much longer inlet manifold tract and plenum. This has reduced BHP/torque a few notches. Still good performance, but cannot kepp up with my Sport 1.6. They are fairly heavy. SXi's are nice looking motors though. will hit 120mph still.

Basically the same as the X16XEL engine in the mk3, which also gave out 100bhp.

2.2 astra is shite for the money.

Yes Sooty speaks the truth.
The 1.8 16v is 125bhp 0-60 in 8.5 seconds and 127mph top speed, it also has 125 lb/ft of torque, very nippy car. My friend has one, please look out for it at Trax on Sunday.

Thanks everyone. My mate has just bought a Mk4 Astra CD and wondered what it was BHP-wise. He says it "goes like stink"
Cheers,

They do not go like stink I would'nt say... First car I ever drove in my life when I passed my test was the mk4 1600cc, I did'nt really know what fast was at the time... so I thought it was pretty dam quick. To a new driver it will seem very quick.
Anything sub 10 seconds to 60 is reasonable really.

1.6 8v in the Astra Mk4 is the worst car I have ever driven.
Slow as fcuk, when I got back in my SXi it felt like a rocket ship.
