Yesterday i met up with a mate of mine he had got himself a Corsa C SRI 1.4 with the irmsher kit on nothing eles modyfied.

He was following me back to my house I was in my SXI with piper X Induction kit & Eco tech - valve.

He tried to overtake me on a dual carraige way so i thought i would give it a go and booted it. I started to pull away from him a bit until we got to about 80 then we were level he couldnt get infront of me.

Has the modifications that i have done made that much difference or is his car slow? What is the difference in HP between the 1.2 sxi and 1.4 SRI.

He couldnt beleive when we got home!

Made me laugh anyway

yours is 75 bhp his is 90 bhp...

not that much diff... the thing is you gotta think that maybe he floored it at the wrong rpm, where as you maybe were right in the power when you floored it... thus making it seem pretty quick.

If you originally booted it away from him, he may of not been setup (i.e. 2k rpm in 3rd or something) and thus it took some time for his car to get into the power range to start catching.

about the not getting infront of you thing - probably also to do with what gears you were in, you might of kept it in 4th or something and he might be in 5th...

I thought Corsa C SRI was 1.8 though ? (or are the 2?)

must drive it like a woman.unless there is something wrong with his car.normally the 1.4 sri would eat the sxi for breakfast..if you had said you had a 1.4 sri and it beat a 1.8 sri then i would beleive it

They do 1.4's as well, slightly different engine to sport. Can't see a sxi beating one though

The thing is - things like when each of you changed gear and all that would count for a lot too...

for example, if a sxi driver was taking his to like 5k then changing (and it dropped to say 3.5k) in every gear then it would be pretty fast compared to a 1.4 16v that was changing at say 3.5k-4k rpm (and it dropped to say 2k rpm) because they were scared to 'rag' their engine...

No, this is a pointless thread. We all know the answer, lets not discuss it any longer.

You've got tor realise with these small engine'd 16v's that the power is only within say 3.5k-5.5k rpm

any lower and it just won't respond at all...

and I can imagine a sxi beating it based on all the above I've said! - I know I've suprised many people when they've said what engine is it and I say a 1.2 and they're in a 1.4 16v, because I'd be in the power every gear ready to floor it, but they might not be and thus I seem to be accelerating fast!

Yeah, sooo similar

1.4 0-60 is 10.5
112mph

1.8 0-60 is about 8.5
125mph.

Not quite the same

Yes, most people have said that the engione is far too heavy 4 the corsa and slows it down dramatically

Depends what gti you get because of the inconsistancies in the power output..... 120-130 from standard...
