basically i bought a stealth shelf from a media world in cardiff. They order them in from some trade contact. I paid £70 for it and on the reciept it says 12months warranty. Recently the wooden hinges have broken and the shelf no longer hinges properly. I went back there 2day and basically the fobbed me off with a load of bollocs saying - we'll have to send it off to them for them to assess if it was a manufacturing fault (=refund/replacement) or if it was just general wear and tear (=no refund/replacement). I said to the bloke in there i have used this shelf as it was designed to and it has broken. It is clearly a faulty good or a mis design and i expect a replacement item with a fresh 12month warranty on it. He gave me some shit about how they had never had any complaints ever about the shelves they've sold. So basically it looks like they ain't gonna refund me. I'm sure im in the right. Anyone got any opinions on this?

think i mite get my dad involved. he isa barrister after all. they should shit htemselves. fing that pissed me off is that the bloke in the shop would not give me any contact details of the manufacturers of the shelf for me to make a direct complaint.

just go down there say you are contacting trading standards, they usually turn round very quickly

spoken to my lawyer (aka my old man) and the shop defo in the wrong. I entered into a contract with them and not the manufacturers and therefore they must honour the warranty. In simple terms they gotta give me a refund on the spot, and then take it up with the manufacturers themselves. So i'll go in there 2moz and put the shits up them. If they trying fobbing me off again, i fink i'll slip in the words - SMALL CLAIMS COURT.

Here we go

OK, if the shop has told u that they wont do ant thing at all, u d have rights....Obviously if it was just through generall use

* u can either give them a Certain length of time to sort it and put this in a letter for offical reason so u can approach "trading standards" with the correct approach..... explain everything to them and if the company wont do anything they will take further action.....Also leave the item with them and ask for a receipt of one form or another.

* U could demand to see a higher member of managment and see if u could have any luck there... express your anger, and perhaps threaten with bad publisity.

* One thing u will need to check is what warrenty comes with the item.....

*If the warrenty says they ll repair exchange they must honour this..... or ask for the cash back,,,

What id do mate id contact ur loacl citizaadvice bureau, and they ll give ya the correct advice

well my dad is a barrister and he said they are obliged to refund me becos the goods were not fit for the purpose. if they fcuk me round 2moz i fink i'll send me dad in. im sick of it tho. just cos ur 17 they fink they can fuck u round. I bet they'll give my dad the refund on the spot no arguements.

u threat em with trading standards and i will guarentee they will do summit about ur problem , they will probibly give u another in the shop , say u will also tell every1 how shit there shop is and their services

just bin down. offered me a new shelf 2moz, fitted wiv my speakers on the spot whenever i want. and a fresh 12 month awrranty. And they will modify the shelf to provide stronger hinge joints.
