if you mean cleaning the head (decoking) then it might help depending on how dirty they are! Not worth taking it off especially for.

You mean the piston crowns? IE top of pistons.
Why would you want to do that?

ive been told polishing the heards acn make a difference due to less friction etc

less friction? the pistons crowns dont touch anything! and if they do you'll sure as hell know about it!
