I used to have a kit car called a Lomax - had 2 wheels at the front and one at the back - based on an old Morgan.

Had small engine but had a straight through exhaust and sounded and looked the bollocks!

These are cheap if you can find one - the engine is so light one person can lift it in and out and the whole bonnet comes off so there easy to work on. The donor car is a 2CV so parts are next to nothing.

basically as for cheapness and caterham replica
your looking at a locost or a robin hood,
there based on a sierra donor car,

if you buy kit car mag, and see the stuart taylor advert that is my dads kit car - pics in my garage of it,
2.0 pinto engine will be cheapest to build

best bet is to get a kit car mag, something like which kit. There are always loads of unfinished projects in the back which are usually good value, so would get yourself one of those!

thats my dads car as seen in the mag every month,
a 2.0 pinto in a locost or robin hood will be from £500 - £8k
depends on build spec,
handling on some are bad needs coilovers and best to speak to a locost race driver, most companies are really helpful in this industry

Noble Kit cars is two miles from where i live - didnt they break the speed record for a kit car?

I used to work nearby and sit and watch them work on the cars in my lunchbreak
