Can someone tell me how important and a rough description of a "Diesel Injector Pump" is. (This is Vauxhalls terminology)

This isnt for a corsa but for a V reg 1.9TD engine from a Astra Van.

To cut a long story short - Vauxhall want to charge £2250 to supply and fit a new Diesel Injector Pump.

Hows that?

Well - obviously were not gonna let em even touch it!!!

I worked it out that even if the pump was worth £1000 (that of a reconned engine inc fitting) that would mean 25 hours of labour time at £50 per hour.

Are they for real or what!??!
