When I fit the mirrors to the car do I need to seal it around the edges in case water gets in.

Don't original mirrors have seals. Pretty certain when I did mine the seals where on the car not the mirror. Anyway there is no water getting in so there are seals somewhere.

I think the seals are on the mirror base-plates.

there aint any seals on the baseplates, my mates 306 leaks thru his

I meant that the seals are on the original base-plates.

Any idea what I could use to seal them.

look at original mirror and see if its got a foam band around it. if it has then glue it to the back of ur new mirror baseplates???
