if its well looked after then why not? are you gonna be doing loads a miles yourself??

its usually signs of rot you need to look for, this is the biggest killer in old cars

Expect the cam to go - if its single cam you can pick one up for £90

Usual thing on novas - look for smoke on start up etc - if you have no smoke then generally you shouldnt expect too many problems - my mates got a nova with 160k on the clock and its fine. New parts are cheap enough too.

goin on the stereotype that most nova's are either on there last legs or concours condition
guessing but usually there on there way out if there cheap

My corsa is a 1.2 8v (same engine as they put in the later novas) and mines done 130k.

Its runs absolutely superb for a 1.2, never had a prob with it. Doesnt show any signs of any probs either. Gives 35mpg+ round town and almost 50 on a casual run.

As with Kris, mine is in alot better state than some i've seen with a 1/3 of the miles on it.

I had a 1989 renault 5 gt turbo with 140k on the clock still boosting it's ass off on the original turbo.

It'll be fine if looked after.

Thread digger

The old VX 8v engines are all rock solid TBH, many people on here have had them and they've had nothing but abuse for years and still been fine

I said something along the lines of "It boosts its' ass off but it has been looked after?" I was thinking that he meant he ragged it etc, but obviously not..

Badboy, no, my post was AFTER yours FFS are you blind, Loaforbrett said about his turbo, then I replied to it. Your post was before both of these
