how much £ do the record companies actually get off each CD after production costs, designs, packaging, store costs etc? I wouldnt mind payling like £3 or £4 for a CD knowing that all of the money was going to the people that deserve it.

yeah it is. I had over 8,500 tracks shared on slsk until one of the hardcore record label owners came in and started taking IP addresses and stuff. I talked to him for ages about the whole thing and i agreed to stop sharing any new material. I thought i was helping an underground scene, but never really thought about the loss of sales in way. Im kosher now tho! (Well, stuff im sharing anyway! )

its always been illegal, just the americans are doing something about it. And by the looks of it, they are in teh UK now too. One of my mates was named on the front page of ush.net for sharing music on soulseek!!

a lot less likely to get caught though. They are mainly after the people uploading GB/s a day, not someone downloading the odd tune. But technically, it is illegal, yes. I used to upload about 2.5GB a day, BT must love me!
