well i'm going to my conversion with a mate who worked on engines for a while.

The thing is, my 1.6 engine only has 42,000 on the clock and by replacing with a 2.0 the mileage gonna be higher. So if too many problems occur with the 2.0 engine i wanna revert back to the 1.6.

The 2.0 16v would be coming out of a calibra and i've heard they are not too clever with high mileage

sorry forgot to mention i'm not paying for it. all i'm paying for is the parts, no labour.

could get it re-conditoned i suppose, but it's the hassle of getting it sorted out.

Why not just spend the money on the 1.6 16v engine, you can get some good power out of them and they are lighter leading to some better handling and such like. Its a consideration.

The loom, ECU etc is all cut and swapped for the 2.0 so putting the 1.6 back in wouldnt be a simple job it would mean recutting and all that shit.

It would be as hard to convert it back as it is converting it in the first place. Well easier actually cause you'll work everything out the first time. Its exactly the same but in reverse?! Is that really that hard to work out.......

No, well u might need to take a tiny bit off the bulkhead. Depending if u use the SFi pipe method or a powercap and if its before or after the facelift mine was before, and its bulkhead is a slightly different shape to the newer ones.

Nightmare job to undo a 2 litre conversion. Once its done you'll want to resolve problems with another engine. They're 400 quid at the expensive end though and you've already got the loom, ecu, shafts etc. if the one for 200 quid goes pop.

Plus you'll want to sell your 1600 to scorchingpost:
