Take off the bottom rad pipe, drain water, refit rad pipe, fill with new antifreeze/water mix (should say the mix on the back of the antifreeze bottle)

I would mix a load in a watering can or something.

my water level is already on maximum. so if i top up with this mixture of antifreeze and water it should have a overflow pipe to let some water out - right?
doesn't this mean that the mixture i am putting in is coming straight back out?

I'd take it to a garage
1st - Drain all the water out of the system.
2nd - mix your antifreeze & water in a watering can (mixture on the back of the bottle) e.g - 4ltrs of water & 1 ltr of antifreeze.
3rd - put the radiator pipe back on
4th - fill the system with the water/antifreeze you just mixed up.
5th - job done
edit - dont fill all the way to the top, only to the MAX line, then go for a drive for 15 mins and then check the water level again.

Your looking for a black rubber pipe that joins to the bottom of the radiator, take it off and the water will come out.
Bubbles - thats why i said check the water level after you've been for a 15 min drive.

err when your refilling it, you need to make sure the internal heater setting is set to max heat otherwise you will get air locks!

How come youll get airlocks? Surely the heater setting is just a flap, the water will be circulating around the matrix constantly?
