What do the yellow cameras with the round pink lens do? they seem to be pointing to oncoming traffic?

They "do" the same thing but achieve it differently!

I'm no expert but I think the front facing ones use the same technology to calculate speed but the photography is different and doesn't require a flash - so it can go off in front of you.

The pink/purple is supposed to prevent blinding the driver... It still flashes iirc.
