dont think a "GSi" has a egr valve, only the x16xe and the x14xe have it (not the c16xe!)

and it wont improve the performance of ur car! plus ur one already has one, i assume urs is broken? and u need the spares? in which case id remove ur egr valve and block it off

wouldnt it be eisier to change the the full engine? and would changing the bottom end make it as fast as a gsi? wot about ecu?

well if its just ur egr valve thats broken m8, id just remove it all and block it off... there 2 advantages to doin this...

it will make the engine bay looks better (less cluttered), and also u may get 1bhp

i wouldnt bother puttin a gsi buttom end on (it wont make ur x14xe as fast/powerfull as a c/x16xe, and the ecu should be the same i think so u wont need to change it (tho i may be wrong!!!)...only thing that would be worth doin is to put the gsi lump in, even still i wouldnt do that unless i was gonna tune it.

my 2p worth

i know it reduces emissions by putting exaust gas back into the inlet and i heard i warms up the cat to make it work more quickley. but id just rather have 1 that not cos not hhaving 1 will cause me ecu light to cum on all the time.

would the cyinder head from the gsi fit straight onto my 1.4 16v. would the cam give better power than mine? cos if i could i could get it gas flowed too. how much power would be gained and at wot cost?

honestly it aint worth the hassel or doller!!! i dont know if the head and cams will fit, but i would gues they would.

best thing to do as iv said is to block off ur egr system! if u want more power either get the gsi lump put in urs, or spend that money tunin ur 14xe (like iv done) or get a 2litre.

i still think u should remove the egr valve, coz its the easiest option and best! i dont think it will make ur engine managment light come on!

if they are c16xe cams there is good chance of more power. They are much more lively thant the piss poor ecotec cams

The cams are the same on all the small xe's.
The C16XE head will reduce perf because a) ports are too big and you'll loose torque
b) the CR will be reduced and loss power from this two.
If you want to spend money on it then manzel type induction system, if you're serious then tb's make a whole world of difference. But to be honest on tbs runngin 130BHP it's still not that quick, I'd consider a 2L really.

gsi only had the c16xe in it for about a year, then went to the x16xe untill june 1995 when it was discontinued

THe C16XE run up to 1994 then in the same year swapped to the X16XE, the C16XE does have a black plastic inlet manifold and says vauxhall on the cam cover, the X16XE has a metal silver inlet manifold and says Ecotec on the cam cover, just buy the whole engine it will slot straight into your car just get the key code thing off the lock barrel and the ecu and wiring loom to be sure and ya sorted,
my GSI with C16XE has over 140BHP and i think i am under guessin that figure by a long shot, trust me it aint that slow, in a week when the other few mods are done i wont be much slower than a 2litre corsa

its a transponder chip key, it disables the immobolisor in the ecu so you can start the car, you will need the key the transponder at the lock barrel, the wiring loom, engine gear box, i would pay no more than £300 for the lot
