But Daimo,
After doing some headwork, changing inlet and exhaust port shape, incrasing the CR, fitting TB's and management what's the diffrence betteen the two engines?
I'm curious

No, can't say much else really. They have a C16 engine and will be tuning it, thats all i can say.
240bhp, Maybe more.

Yup, ur right about that.
But the inlet ports on teh C16 are different to the X16 hence why the C16 kit comes with the lower inlet manifold.
Are you talking about the mantzel kits? Whats the reason the C kits need the lower part?

Not that much EGR Valve, pump system etc.
Still enough for the C16 to respond better to minor mods.
Not seen a fully tuned C16 yet.

Once your at 200bhp the engines will be identical.

I have always been under the impression the inlet ports on the head are a slightly different shape to those on the X engine.

So why have SBD just got a C16 instead of another X16 then?

Exactly Miles,
Daimo If you fit Management and Tb's how do you operate the EGR and AIR reactor
You must explain how

The reason is that there is a different flange on the top of the lower manifold on the C engine as it used a fat rubber type gasket to fit to the plastic top part. Hence they need a different inlet manifold. The inlet ports are the same shape as far as I know, just the C ones are a bit bigger.

Ask SBD.....I dont know.
To get to 200bhp the heads will have been worked to the same spec. The pistons will have changed to the same type and all the management and EGR type stuff will be long gone!
Everything else is the same!

Exactly. I've not said the velos kit IS bad. Its ok for the X16 and gives pretty much the same gain on the X16, but on the C16, i've not seen in 4+ years any other kit that seems to go as well as the Mbox.

yes i would agree with you there mate, the mantzel box is for the c16xe and gives better power,
velos stuff for the x16xe is very reasonable i feel and to get 147 bhp for £1000 is good in my opinion!
miles i must say that i like your engine setup, thats the sort of thing im aiming for in a few years!

Ok, maybe the mantzel is better for the C, but for the sake of the gains you can still see for £300 less I know where i'd spend my money.
Or for the mantzel money I'd get the full velos item if buying new.
Actually, if i was doing it now, id make my own one...
I bet the tb kit goes better than the mbox

Look out for cheap bits, or diy some tb's from old carbs.
Its the management thats expensive.
I gradually got all mine secondhand...

Can anyone help. I want to get a Mantzel box send Down Under (1.6 GSi).
Anyone know where I can get one? Has to be shippped anyway, so it doesn't matter from which country.
Or does anyone have the part number, so it's easier to find on the net.
Much appreciated.
